New Leaf Health

New Leaf Health is a site built from our client’s Photoshop files. We quickly converted it to a custom WordPress design and used my favorite theme, ‘Themaitic‘ for the framework. It was a fairly straight forward affair, Thematic makes it really easy to customise your design simply by using the functions.php file and filter hooks. Thematic’s default css styles are also rock solid and therefore easy to build upon. Anyway, it seems to be working for New Leaf Health as they’ve told us enquiries are coming in thick and fast , they are also adding some new content in the near future.

Consult Solutions

Consult Solutions are a start up recruitment agency based in Birmingham. We seem to be getting a fair bit of web design work from that area of the UK at the moment and it all seems quite varied. They required a site that was ‘corporate cool’ and of course usable and accessible. I really think we delivered on this and so do the guys at Consult Solutions. The site has a bright white background and uses WordPress as it’s CMS. There’s also a bit of jquery and cufon thrown that make this simple design something a bit special. I also should mention cforms the amazing wordpress plugin that made light work of the many contact forms that are used throughout the site, thanks guys.

Apex Publications, publish science fiction and horror literature. Their retail site uses our favourite e-commerce solution, Shopify . One of the best things about Shopify is it comes with some very good pre-built templates. This mean that we we’re able to create a logo, header navigation, sidebar and footer at a fraction of the cost of creating a bespoke design from scratch. Apex were using the very popular vogue theme and using that as a basis we were able to create something that looked completely original simply by editing the CSS.

Deviant Bubblegum

This is our latest design built around the shopify hosted shopping cart solution. Shopify gives designers complete control over the html, css and javascript of the site so it’s super easy to fit ecommerce functionality into any design. This was brilliant for Deviant Bubblegum because it meant we did not have to compromise the edgy, eclectic look and feel that they wanted for their shopping cart design. Deviant Bubblegum are based in Uta, USA and sell really interesting and strange clothing and art, mainly aimed at women and children. The design is feminine with elements of danger, grunge and creativity all of which create a really original shopping cart that is still accessible and intuitive.

Cow Says Moo

Cow Says Moo Media are a design agency based in Kinver, near Birmingham. They provide quality PR and Marketing services to a variety of clients. They came to AmberCouch with a PDF of what they wanted their web site to look like but without the skills to take their document and turn it into a fully functioning web site. From that single PDF file we were able to get them live on web, in just a few days. Their web site didn’t require anything fancy like a CMS but we still decided to use Wordpress for its built in SEO and because it so easy to design for. We used the Thematic theme as our starting point and quickly developed a child theme for it. Thematic is an absolute star as it allows us to develop without hardly touching the HTML, saving us time and our clients money. WordPress and Thematic are now are number one choice for any web design.

Cosmo – Albums

Cosmo is a singer song writer based in Cardiff who needed designs for 4 albums. So here they are, we’ve used a simple design that incorporates strong colours and very hi-contrast black and white photographs. Visually the designs really pack a punch. Cosmo’s story like lyrics provided loads of ideas for us to play with and so that’s what we did. You’ll find images of religion, human dissection, self medicating animals, the cold war and suicide through out the art work, all of which are a reflection of Cosmo’s lyrics.
